History
Friends of Norris Lake was formed in January 1999 from a committee of board members and homeowners with the goal of finding
fairer, more practical and long term ways to generate additional funds for lake maintenance in a community where only a small
percentage of homeowners fulfill their financial obligations to the community.
This small group of committed homeowners continued to work, expanded our goals, and grew to become what we are today.
The Friends of Norris Lake is a non-profit community support group, an organization of volunteer community
residents. We are not the Homeowners Association, although we are all members. We are not the Board of Directors of the
HOA, although many current and former board members are Friends of Norris Lake. We are friends and neighbors, committed
to the long term preservation and enhancement of the environmental health, recreational safety and security of our lake, attendant
shorelines, infrastructure and facilities.
We meet monthly to discuss goals and successes. We work together regularly to bring unity and involvement to our community.
We play and relax together on every opportunity.
Purpose
Since its inception, the Friends of Norris Lake has remained focused on one main goal: To raise money for the improvement
of our lake and community. We have raised thousands of dollars through concerned member contributions and fund raisers to
underwrite activities such as silt removal, dam reinforcement, channel marker installation and upkeep, restoration and improvement of
common beach areas, installing protective fencing to secure boat launch areas, environmental studies, fish studies, weed and
algae control, and many other environmental enhancements.
